Meeting Held to Discuss Water Issues and Priority Projects in Mexico
Clara Brugada, the current governor of the State of Morelos, and state leaders from the Central Zone of Mexico met with Claudia Sheinbaum, the incoming president of Mexico, to discuss common priority projects. Water emerged as a central concern during the meeting.
The gathering, convened by Sheinbaum, focused on identifying and addressing challenges faced by Mexico City and surrounding states like the State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Hidalgo, and Morelos. Brugada emphasized the importance of joint action to tackle these issues.
“We discussed the priority projects that we intend to develop jointly with the next Federal Government,” Brugada stated on social media.
The discussion also highlighted the commitment of state governors, the incoming president, and Brugada to work collaboratively for the advancement and development of the region.
Following the main meeting, the group agreed to continue their dialogue to address the issue of water in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico. Strategies are being explored to bring water directly from the Mezquital Valley to the Valley of Mexico to address water scarcity concerns.
Brugada had previously highlighted water scarcity as a key focus during her campaign and pledged to implement the Metropolitan Plan, involving collaboration between local and federal governments.
