## Chile‘s President Denies Recognition of Maduro‘s Victory in Venezuela
The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, has stated that his country does not recognize the results of Venezuela’s recent presidential election, alleging an “attempt at fraud.” He further declared that Chile does not trust the independence or impartiality of the current institutions in Venezuela.
Boric’s statement came in the wake of the Venezuelan Electoral Council (CNE) declaring Nicolás Maduro the winner of the election, despite widespread concerns about the transparency and fairness of the process. The results have been met with skepticism by the international community, with several Latin American countries echoing Chile’s stance.
Boric emphasized that Chile will only recognize election results that are verified by independent international organizations. He also expressed concerns about the human rights situation in Venezuela, citing reports of serious violations and political persecution.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil, responded to Boric’s statement on social media, accusing him of aligning himself with the United States and criticizing his government. Gil also accused Boric of engaging in a “Pinochetist and coup-like government.”
