It has already been reported that Suharev did not lift the starting weight in the weight category up to 73 kilograms in the Paris Olympic Games and refused to continue the competition after the second attempt. The competition ended without a result.
“After the warm-up, my shoulder was sensitive, even though the doctors did everything. We used tapes to be able to hold more, but I couldn’t hold the weight, the shoulder jumps out. I can pull it above my head, but I can’t hold it. There’s nothing to comment on,” said the weightlifter.
“After the operations, the shoulder always pops out, but in the last few months, quite sensitively. I was hoping for a better result and thought that today will pass,” continued Suharev, who previously underwent an operation on his right shoulder.
The first attempt was almost successful for Suharev, but he discovered that his shoulder had already sprained. “I thought I would hold on, but it went down and the attempt was immediately disallowed. I did everything in the second, but I didn’t hold on,” the athlete added.
He admitted that he planned to handle 150 kilograms in the pull, which would allow him to take a recognized position.
“I was hoping to pull it out and it would be fine. There is no excitement, just an injury. For the first time in my life, I did not lift anything in the pull-up. I tried 110 kilograms during the warm-up, but I did not succeed. I feel that I have let everyone down,” the Latvian weightlifter highlighted.
Three years ago in Tokyo, Sukharev finished sixth in the weight category up to 81 kilograms.
The Olympic Games will take place in the French capital until August 11, and not only in the French capital, but also in 16 other places, including the French overseas territory of French Polynesia. The Games program includes 32 sports and 329 sets of medals will be distributed.
