jpnn.comJAKARTA - The upcoming 2024 Pilkada is approaching, as outlined in KPU Regulation Number 2 of 2024 concerning the Stages and Schedule for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, and Mayor and Deputy Mayor in 2024.
The election, including the North Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub Sulut), is scheduled for November 27, 2024. Potential regional head candidates are starting to emerge, with the former Talaud Islands Regent Elly E Lasut running for Governor of North Sulawesi.
In a written statement on Wednesday (7/8/2024), Cakrawala Massie highlighted the emergence of Elly E Lasut as a candidate for governor of North Sulawesi for the 2004-2029 period.
According to Cakra, Elly E Lasut was previously implicated in a corruption case, with prosecutors requesting a 9-year prison sentence in 2009 for alleged corruption related to official travel orders during his time as Regent of the Talaud Islands.
Cakra believes that Elly E Lasut is not suitable to run for governor due to his past involvement in corruption.
“She was previously involved in a corruption case. Political parties should not endorse or nominate her as a gubernatorial candidate with a history of corruption,” Cakrawala Massie stated, who is also a businessman.
He expressed concerns about Elly E Lasut’s potential return to the gubernatorial candidate field, citing his corruption case history.
