The Conred and TikTok search button is now available for disaster prevention. This tool will provide you with valuable information and help you prepare for emergencies.
Conred and TikTok search button for disaster prevention
On Thursday, August 8, an innovative collaboration was announced between the Executive Secretariat of the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (SE-CONRED) and TikTok Latin America, resulting in the launch of the first «search button for disaster prevention» in Latin America. This tool is available on the popular video app and aims to provide users with official and relevant information about emergencies.
This partnership highlights the importance of adapting digital technologies to risk management and being well informed and prepared for life-threatening situations. TikTok, recognized not only as an entertainment platform but also as a search tool for young people, offers a unique opportunity to spread safety and prevention messages on a large scale.
How does the tool work?
The new TikTok search button provides relevant and verified information related to different phenomena or other situations affecting the country, such as weather alerts, security recommendations, distribution of humanitarian aid, and prevention measures.
To use this option, Guatemalans who use TikTok can enter keywords related to natural events in the app’s search bar, such as “flood,” “hurricane,” “rain,” “landslide,” or “cyclone.” By doing so, the first result that will appear will be the option titled “Safety in natural disasters.” Clicking on this option will redirect you to the official Conred page, where you can find detailed and official information on prevention measures and information alerts issued by the competent authorities.
This tool is especially useful for those who browse TikTok and come across videos related to natural disasters in Guatemala and have any questions related to them, allowing them to quickly obtain reliable information. It is also ideal for those who use the application as their main search source and want to be well informed about possible risk situations.

Information you can access by using the button
TikTok’s search button provides direct access to a wide range of information crucial for safety in a variety of risk situations. Available resources include guides on what to do before, during and after a forest fire or in the presence of strong winds, as well as updated information on the rainy season, safety protocols, emergency numbers, press releases and weather bulletins.
In addition, the tool provides information on soil saturation and other climate-related data – information that is extremely important during the rainy season when the risk of landslides, floods and mudslides increases significantly. With this information, users can make informed decisions and take necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves and their loved ones.
