Supermarkets across France have recalled several batches of cheeses due to potential Listeria contamination. The contamination was discovered in products sold between early July and early August.
Sources report that major chains like Super U, Casino, Carrefour, and Intermarché are affected by the recall. Some recalls are localized, such as the “Moelleux de St ours 500 g” produced by Schmidhauser, which is only being recalled in Carrefour markets in Savoie and Haute-Savoie.
List of Recalled Cheeses:
- Top tomme “La Marguerite”
- Tomme “La Céronnée”

Cause of Recall:

Symptoms and Precautions:
Consuming contaminated cheese can lead to symptoms such as fever, headaches, and body pains. Pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals are at higher risk of serious complications.
Advice from Health Authorities:
- Consult a doctor if you experience symptoms after consuming any of the recalled cheeses.
- Pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals should take extra precautions and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms develop.
Company Response:
The Savoyard company has not yet issued a public statement regarding the recall.
