Political observer Ujang Komarudin argues that the discourse surrounding the formation of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus in the 2024 Regional Elections serves as an entry point to ensuring the synchronization of programs between the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka governments at the regional level.
According to Kang Ujang, the synchronization of central government programs will be easier to achieve if the elected regional heads are supported by KIM Plus. Conversely, if the winning regional heads are from opposition parties, there is a potential for obstacles to program implementation.
Ujang cites the experience during the Covid-19 pandemic as an example. When President Joko Widodo implemented pandemic-handling policies, several regional heads disagreed, leading to friction. This experience has likely influenced the current discourse surrounding KIM Plus, with the coalition aiming to control or win strategic areas through the election.
Ujang Komarudin concludes that the KIM Plus discourse is a strategic move to ensure the alignment and implementation of programs across different levels of government.
