Hotel Collapse in Kröv: Two Dead, Rescue Efforts Ongoing
In Kröv on the Mosel, a hotel collapsed on Tuesday evening, claiming the lives of two people. Emergency responders are still working at the scene.
Rescue Efforts and Survivors
The collapse occurred around 11 PM. A total of seven individuals were rescued, including a two-year-old child with their parents. The Dutch media report that the family is from Urk near Amsterdam.
One woman was rescued as the last survivor on Wednesday evening. Rescuers were able to communicate with her beforehand.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Concerns
The incident occurred with 14 people inside the building. Five people managed to escape unharmed. Approximately 250 emergency responders were on the scene.
The building is still partially collapsing and could collapse further. A specialized company has been contracted to demolish the hotel on Friday.
Further Investigation and Owner Information
The German Hotel and Restaurant Association revealed that the hotel owners had been attempting to sell the property prior to the collapse. They were actively seeking a buyer.
