15 days after the arrest of Ismael ”El Mayo” Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Ambassador Ken Salazar denied that the United States provided resources for the operation. American agents have entered Mexico due to the drug mafia.
Salazar gave this information during a press conference while Guzman Lopez was present. He was brought to the United States against his will.
“This was not a United States plane, this was not a United States pilot, this was not our agents, this was not our people in Mexico,” Salazar emphasized.
Regarding the pilot of the plane, Salazar clarified that he is not an employee of the aircraft or an American citizen.
Salazar stated that the arrest was a cartel operation, orchestrated by the son of “El Chapo.” He added that the flight had departed from Sinaloa and arrived in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.
The ambassador emphasized that the United States is cooperating and providing information to the Mexican government regarding the arrest. However, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador alleged that there had been no cooperation from the United States government in the matter.
There were various speculations regarding how the arrest of the Sinaloa Cartel founder took place, ranging from an agreed delivery to being kidnapped or betrayed.
