On February 12, 2024, at 9:00 AM, the Israeli police and General Security Service (Shabak) announced the arrest of a teacher from northern Israel. They alleged that the individual had provided Hamas with the location of a military industry facility to facilitate missile attacks.
The accused, Rami Habib Allah, is from Ein Mahil, a town near Nazareth.
The police and Shin Bet concluded that, in light of the conflict in Gaza, Habib Allah contacted Hamas abroad and offered to provide intelligence on targets within Israel. He provided a Hamas activist with a picture and exact location of a defense industry factory near his home, with the intention of prompting them to fire rockets at it. He also collected money for Hamas and shared information about other sensitive sites.
Furthermore, Habib Allah is accused of recruiting other Israeli Arabs to assist Hamas in targeting vital infrastructure.
The Northern District Public Prosecution filed an indictment against Habib Allah and another suspect, Khaled Saleh, before the Central Court in Nazareth.
Habib Allah was charged with various national security offenses, including contacting a foreign agent, illegal procurement for terrorist purposes, and conspiracy to commit a terrorist act. Saleh was charged with conspiracy to commit a terrorist act.
“This is a serious act carried out by Israeli citizens who hatched a malicious plan with Hamas activists while Israel was engaged in combat against that terrorist organization,” a statement from the police and Shin Bet read.
The statement emphasized that the Shin Bet and Israel Police take any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that threaten national security very seriously.
