BOLZANO. With the fourth final place of the Italian national volleyball team led by the captain from Bolzano Simone Giannelli, the adventure of the five South Tyrolean athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has ended. In addition to Giannelli, the following also participated in the event: triathlete Verena Steinhauser from Bressanone, table tennis players Debora Vivarelli, Georgia Little, and Barbara Gambaro, athlete from Silandro, engaged in target shooting, 50m rifle 3 positions specialty.
The President of the Province Arno Kompatscher and the Sports Councillor Peter Brunner wanted to thank the South Tyrolean standard-bearers at the end of their experience in the five-ring event. “We are proud of our athletes for the commitment and passion that all of them have been able to show during this great event,” underlined the president Kompatscher. “Participating in an event of this magnitude represents, in itself, a great source of pride for those who have experienced this emotion and for all of us, who from afar have made our closeness felt. To our magnificent five, examples of great sportsmen, heartfelt thanks for having represented our land in the best possible way.”
Councillor Peter Brunner is on the same wavelength. “Behind the participation of our athletes there is a great work that starts from the bottom and is supported by families, associations and our sports clubs present throughout the province, supported by many volunteers. It is a model that we are proud of and that will continue to give us great satisfaction in the future,” said Brunner.
