Chandipura Virus Outbreak in Rajasthan
Jaipur, 2024-08-10 03:00:25 – An outbreak of the deadly Chandipura virus has been confirmed in Rajasthan, with a two-year-old girl in Shahpura district being the latest victim.
The girl, a resident of Kothiya area in Shahpura district, fell ill on August 5 and was initially admitted to a private hospital in Vijaynagar. Her condition deteriorated, leading her family to transfer her to a major hospital in Ahmedabad, where she was diagnosed with Chandipura virus. Her condition is currently critical.
This is the second confirmed case of Chandipura virus in Rajasthan. The first case was reported in Dungarpur district, where a 3-year-old child was found infected.
Medical Response
The medical department has declared an alert and is taking several measures to control the outbreak.
Spraying and sanitation measures have been initiated around the victim’s house.
Samples are being collected from people in the surrounding area and sent for examination in Udaipur.
