After almost 30 years of anticipation, the Ridolfo administration officially opens the new five-a-side football pitch in the Matini district.
This long-awaited project was a central promise made by then candidate Ridolfo during the 2021 election campaign. He explicitly included the construction of a football pitch in his election program, assuring the citizens of Matini that their village would finally have its own dedicated facility.
After years of planning and bureaucratic hurdles, the municipal administration of Ficarra, led by Basilio Ridolfo, finally cut the ribbon on the new sports complex. The mayor expressed his pride in the accomplishment, acknowledging the long history of the project, which began in 1997. He credited various individuals and organizations involved in bringing the project to fruition.
The soccer field, equipped with changing rooms and a synthetic grass mat, is also energy self-sufficient, thanks to a photovoltaic system that powers the lighting and changing room facilities.
The management of the facility is still being determined. Mayor Ridolfo announced that the structure will be entrusted to the local HUB association, with an agreement expected to be finalized in the coming days.
Following the inauguration, a friendly tournament was held on the new pitch, involving both young and older players from the community.
