After reading the Dahir of appointment, Mr. Laftit congratulated the new wali and governor on the confidence placed in him by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his appointment in this region, which holds particular significance due to its strategic position, economic potential, and cultural, social, and spiritual significance.
Mentioning Mr. Younes Tazi’s successful professional background as a territorial manager and head of various national institutions, the Minister emphasized that the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region boasts a remarkable image for the Kingdom of Morocco, thanks to the Royal Vision’s focus on making it a leading economic hub.
Mr. Laftit highlighted the remarkable strides made in economic and social development in the region due to the numerous integrated development projects initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This has propelled the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region to become the first pole for the automobile industry and the second industrial pole in the Kingdom, while recording high scores in the Human Development Index.
The completion of numerous strategic projects across vital sectors has transformed the region into a unique model in the Kingdom and the Mediterranean Basin, attracting significant investments and attracting renowned companies.
The Royal Vision has revitalized the region’s fundamental elements, fostering confidence and enhancing the social and urban environment to improve quality of life, empower human resources, and stimulate the economy. Additionally, it emphasizes preserving the cultural heritage and upholding values of openness.
Mr. Laftit also stressed the importance of utilizing new State mechanisms to support regional development, particularly the Charter of Administrative Decentralization, which empowers the wali to implement programs and policies with greater autonomy.
The Minister urged the wali, governors, and various sectors to prioritize the development of public services, achieve social justice, and ensure the implementation of recent reforms promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.
Mr. Laftit called for collaboration among local stakeholders, including elected officials and civil society, to support the new wali in fulfilling his responsibilities and achieving sustainable development. This requires maximizing available resources, diversifying projects, and aligning with community expectations.
The installation ceremony of the new wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region was attended by the governors of the region’s prefectures and provinces, local authority representatives, judicial and legal professionals, elected officials at all levels, business leaders, civil society actors, and prominent figures from the military and civilian sectors.
