Islamabad: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir emphasized the importance of respecting both Sharia law and the Constitution. He stated that those who deviate from these principles are not considered true Pakistanis. Speaking at the National Ulema Conference, he highlighted the Army’s efforts to maintain peace and urged everyone to adhere to the law. He also called for greater societal brotherhood.
According to a Tribune report, the Pak Army Chief criticized the Western lifestyle and civilization, arguing that it does not align with Pakistani values. He emphasized the uniqueness of Islamic civilization and urged adherence to the Prophet’s guidance. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of the Pakhtun and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa people in the fight against terrorism.
The statement also addressed the issue of Afghan refugees: Munir acknowledged Pakistan’s long-standing support for Afghan refugees, urging them not to oppose their neighbors out of fear or prejudice. He hinted at a firm response to any attempt to create chaos in the country.
The Army Chief also touched upon the ongoing conflict in Kashmir, stating that its resolution lies in the joint efforts of India and Pakistan. He expressed concern over the situation in Gaza, urging the international community to learn from the Palestinian experience and prioritize self-protection.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised the Chief of Army Staff for his exemplary cooperation and emphasized the need to learn from past challenges to build a stronger Pakistan.
