Real Cartagena Falls to Cúcuta in DIMAYOR Ascenso Tournament

Real Cartagena suffered their first defeat of the season in the third round of the BetPlay DIMAYOR 2024-2 Ascenso Tournament, falling 2-1 to Cúcuta Deportivo on Wednesday afternoon at the General Santander Stadium in Cúcuta.
The match was officiated by Camilo Colmenares from Boyacá. Despite dominating the first half, Real Cartagena were unable to find the back of the net.
Cúcuta awoke in the second half and took the lead through Agustín Cano in the 12th minute and Juan Rueda two minutes later. Cristian Arroyave, for Real Cartagena, put in a valiant performance, but could not prevent the home team from extending their lead.
Juan José Salcedo pulled one back for Real Cartagena in the 40th minute, but it was not enough. The defeat sees Real Cartagena drop to ninth place with 4 points.
Their next match is away against Bogotá FC on Tuesday, August 13th.
