Public Transport Boosted ‍in⁤ Bolzano for ⁤Summer Tourism

To alleviate traffic congestion and encourage tourists to ‍ditch their ‌cars,⁢ the Province of Bolzano has significantly increased public ‌transport options ‌for the summer season. This year, bus routes have been extended by over 300,000 kilometers, with a 8.3% ‍increase in summer trips ⁣since 2022.

Encouraging Car-Free Excursions

More buses are running‍ on routes like the Sciliar Plateau ⁣and‌ new paths have been⁤ added, making ⁣car-free ‍excursions even more enjoyable. The presence of a full bus ⁢on the road effectively removes ⁢25 private cars from the road.

New Guest Card for Digital Public Transport

To further incentivize the ⁤use of public transport, a new digital Guest Card has ‍been introduced. Valid throughout most ⁢of the province,⁢ the card allows tourists to travel on both buses⁤ and ⁤trains. For ‍each overnight stay, tourist accommodation providers contribute ⁢60 cents⁤ for each guest to ⁣the public transport system.

Improved Punctuality and ⁣Efficiency

The ⁤Guest ‌Card offers several advantages. By eliminating the need for ⁢ticket purchases, ⁢boarding becomes ⁤faster and more efficient. This allows buses and trains to run more ‍punctually and reliably for both tourists and ⁤residents.

Data-Driven Public Transport Optimization

The Guest Card will⁣ be fully digital by the end of the year. This will ‍allow the province to collect real-time data, ⁢which will be used to further⁤ optimize public transport services. The aim is to provide more buses and trips ‍based on actual demand, ensuring that both tourists‌ and⁤ residents benefit from a more efficient and responsive public transport system.
