Fquih Ben Salah: ONEE Strengthens and Secures Drinking Water Supply in Three Towns
Beni Mellal – The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) announced the commencement of a project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply for the towns of Souk Sebt Ouled Nemma, Ouled Ayad, and Dar Ould Zidouh in the Fquih Ben Salah province.
The project includes the expansion of the Afourer treatment plant, the raw water pumping station, and the laying of 60 kilometers of pipelines.
The commissioning of this major project, estimated to cost approximately 134 million DH, financed by a loan from the African Development Bank (ADB), is expected to increase the water flow by approximately 16,400 m3/day. This will ensure the secure water supply for the aforementioned cities and neighboring municipalities until 2035.
The project is part of the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, which aims to address the deficits in the drinking water supply caused by the decline in groundwater levels due to low rainfall in recent years.
Benefiting a total population of 100,000 inhabitants, this large-scale project will contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiaries and supporting the socio-economic development of the region.
