Steven Tyler’s persistent vocal ailments, stemming from a throat injury suffered last September, forced Aerosmith to make a drastic decision.
The legendary rock band announced the definitive retirement of their frontman, Steven Tyler, from live performances.
In a public statement, Aerosmith explained their position, pointing to Steven Tyler’s health as the primary factor. The statement read: “Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has been working tirelessly for months to get his voice back to its former glory, but unfortunately, a complete recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”
The band expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their fans, team, and everyone involved in their historic tours.
Aerosmith’s retirement announcement comes after Steven Tyler suffered a serious injury to his vocal cords during a performance in September 2023. The injury also caused a fracture in his larynx, requiring ongoing care.
The singer himself revealed at the time that he was advised by his doctor to refrain from singing for a period of thirty days.
