With the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government amidst student protests against discrimination, Bangladesh’s cricket activities came to a standstill. However, following the interim government’s takeover, things have begun to return to normal. Consequently, the Bangladesh ‘A’ team has finally departed for their tour of Pakistan.
The team was originally scheduled to leave on August 6th, but their departure was delayed due to the political situation. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a delay of at least 48 hours. Despite the setback, the team managed to assemble and travel to Pakistan in just three days.
During their stay in Pakistan, the ’A’ team will play two four-day matches under the leadership of Enamul Haque Vijay and three ODIs under Tawheed Hriday.
The schedule has also been adjusted due to the delay. The first four-day match will now begin on August 13th, with the second and final one following on August 20th. The three ODIs will be played on August 23rd, 25th, and 27th respectively.
Abdur Razzak, a selector accompanying the team, believes this tour presents a valuable opportunity for the Bangladesh cricketers to adapt to different conditions. He notes that this practice is common in other countries and aims to prepare players for various scenarios.
