Eighteen bars from the Kingdom, several barristers, representatives from other sectors, and professional executives are taking part in a two-day conclave. The event aims to shed light on political and legal issues, the roles of lawyers, and their social status.
Opening the Congress, the party’s first secretary, Driss Lachgar, advocated for a mature reflection on the advancement of the legal profession to meet future cross-border challenges, particularly those related to the outsourcing of services. He emphasized the need for technological advancements in office management, remote litigation, and language skills.
Lachgar further called for adherence to the principle of gender parity as enshrined in Article 19 of the Constitution, and for the inclusion of women lawyers in professional bodies in a proportionate manner.
He also expressed the party’s support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for pragmatic and realistic solutions that could lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Al Quds as its capital.
The president of the bar, Allal El Basraoui, highlighted the multifaceted roles of lawyers in society, emphasizing their contributions to the construction of a democratic state based on the rule of law and independent justice.
The Congress agenda includes presentations focusing on the professional status of lawyers, their social conditions, and their political and legal roles.
