2024 Paris Olympics: Guatemalan Pentathlete Andrés Fernández Competes in Semi-Finals

On the second day of competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Guatemalan athlete Andrés Fernández of modern pentathlon competed in the semi-finals. This multi-talented athlete had to face several difficulties in the five sports that make up this complete event.
Challenges in the Semi-Finals
Andrés began his day in the iconic Palace of Versailles, where he competed in the show jumping test. He completed the course with a binomial horse, finishing 13th with 286 points. He later faced British Joseph Choong in the second qualification, but lost and dropped to 15th place with 486 points accumulated.
In the swimming test, Andrés finished second in the 200-meter freestyle heat, earning 312 points and bringing his total to 798 points in 14th place. The final event, the laser run, saw Andrés finish 14th with 664 points.
Overall Performance
After all the competitions in the semi-finals, Andrés finished 13th in the semi-final B and 26th overall with a total of 1462 points. The leader of the test is Egyptian Ahmed Elgendy with 1515 points.
