August 10, 2024, 8:12 PM
To restore connectivity over the La Guaña and El Carmen Rivers, the Zonal Undersecretariat 1 of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP) and the Carchi Prefecture signed two agreements for the installation of two Bailey-type bridges.
The agreement was signed on July 11, 2024, by Luis Sper, representing the MTOP, and Julio Robles, representing the Carchi Prefecture. These provisional structures, valued at over USD 384 thousand, were delivered by Minister Roberto Luque on April 15, 2024.
The Prefecture will be responsible for building the abutments and complementary works, while both institutions will collaborate on the assembly of the viaducts and the rehabilitation of the vehicular passage.
The metal structure over the La Guaña River will benefit the inhabitants of the El Chical parish in Tulcán canton, while the one over the El Carmen River will benefit the inhabitants of the Monte Olivo parish in Bolívar canton.
“This is a new way of managing intervention in the territories,” said Undersecretary Luis Sper. “By generating alliances, we can speed up mobility, reduce travel times, and improve the quality of life for the inhabitants.”
Prefect Julio Robles echoed this sentiment, expressing his commitment to collaborating with the Central Government for the progress and economic development of the province.
