The Olympic Games in Paris 2024 have been underway since July 27th, and Peruvian athletes have displayed impressive performances, raising hopes of an Olympic medal.
Yesterday, the 27-year-old athlete Thalia Valdivia Magariño from Huánuco arrived in Paris with immense excitement. She is poised to make history for Huánuco and Peru.
A photograph captured Valdivia’s joy upon arrival, and she is currently acclimatizing and training in preparation for her upcoming competition.
Valdivia will compete in the women’s marathon on Sunday, August 11th, at midnight (Peruvian time), barring any unforeseen weather-related schedule changes. Coverage of the broadcast will be available on ATV, ATV.pe, and Claro Sports on YouTube.
It is worth noting that Valdivia achieved her Olympic qualification on February 14th by finishing the Rotterdam Marathon in 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 23 seconds, breaking the national record previously held by Gladys Tejeda.
Valdivia will join Gladys Tejeda and Luz Mery Rojas in the marathon, which will take place along the iconic Eiffel Tower at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
