The Golden Star award will be bestowed upon one of the 14 first and second feature films in the international competition, dedicated to showcasing emerging filmmakers from around the world, according to the organizers.
“It is an honor to chair the jury of the prestigious Marrakech Festival, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year,” said Jessica Chastain, who previously served on the jury in 2011. “I am thrilled to be entrusted with this role and look forward to celebrating the remarkable talents of filmmakers from around the globe.”
Over the past decade, Jessica Chastain has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actresses, collaborating with renowned directors such as Terrence Malick, Kathryn Bigelow, Christopher Nolan, and Ridley Scott. Her remarkable performances and the quality of her productions have earned her numerous accolades.
In 2022, she received the Best Actress award at the 94th Academy Awards for her portrayal of Tammy Faye in “When Tammy Faye’s Eyes.”
In 2016, Chastain founded Freckle Films, a New York-based production company that has produced notable films and television projects, including ”355,” “In the Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and “George & Tammy.” The company is also developing two television series adaptations.
Chastain recently made a triumphant return to Broadway after over a decade, starring in a critically acclaimed revival of Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
She also received the Drama Desk Award for “outstanding performance in a leading role in drama.”
