The Indonesia-Timor Leste friendship film has begun production. The project kicked off with the signing of a cooperation agreement between PT Demi Gisela Citra Sinema and PT Aksa Bumi Langit.
The agreement was signed by the initiator and executive producer, Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) Kiki Syahnakri, and the CEO of Widyaiswara Revolusi Sejati, Dr. Wahyuni Refi, who was appointed as the production executor.
Kiki Syahnakri noted that, despite the many years that have passed since East Timor’s independence in 1999, there are few cinematic works that depict the friendship between the two countries. He expressed hope that this film would be welcomed and appreciated for its exploration of reconciliation and peace in diplomatic relations.
Senior actor and director Deddy Mizwar emphasized that the film would not dwell on past conflicts. “This film combines a story about finding identity with a universal message about humanity, love, and the importance of reuniting families separated by war,” he said.
Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, and Lieutenant General (ret.) Lere Anan Timur expressed their support for the film’s production.
Chandra Sembiring from PT. Aksa Bumi Langit added that 70% of the film production would take place in Timor Leste, showcasing the natural beauty and cultural richness of the country.
