There was excitement in the air. Kerin, for me, is still an event. Despite several injuries, it’s always tough to work on myself.
This time, the Lithuanian escaped injury, but his teammate Kwesi Browne from Trinidad and Tobago wasn’t so lucky in the fourth start.
During the final lap, the riders were bunched together, leading to Browne’s unfortunate fall. He lay on the ground in pain.
Medical staff quickly intervened and transported Browne out of the velodrome on a stretcher. The crowd applauded his resilience and he responded with a thumbs up.
Rowena Williams, Trinidad and Tobago’s cycling chief, confirmed that Browne was doing well after the incident.
“He’s fine. The medical staff did a great job tending to him. X-rays confirmed no fractures. Kwesi is doing well. He can walk and talk. We appreciate the support and kind messages.”
It’s worth noting that Browne didn’t qualify for the quarter-finals in the selection. His attempt to advance to the next stage ended in pain and injury.
