Traffic accidents have slightly increased in El Salvador, prompting the Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) and National Civil Police (PNC) to implement additional vehicle and anti-doping controls nationwide.
“We are seeing a slight increase in traffic accidents, which is why we are urging the public to drive cautiously and defensively, in accordance with traffic regulations,” said Traffic Director Félix Serrano.
Checkpoints have been set up on the Pan-American Highway in the La Ceiba de Guadalupe sector, in Antiguo Cuscatlán, on the Santa Tecla to San Salvador and vice versa routes.
During checks in the La Ceiba de Guadalupe sector, a driver was stopped and found to have 132 milligrams per deciliter of alcohol in their breath. Their license plates were confiscated, and a fine was issued.
