Young Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison in Marseille
A minor was sentenced to five years in prison by a Marseille court on Wednesday, August 7, for shooting three times in June 2022, allegedly in connection with drug trafficking.
The defendant, who identified himself as the manager of the Narcotics Network in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, claimed he was forced to sell drugs under threat. He aimed to intimidate the boss and protect other drug dealers from the boss’s violence.
The victim, who was injured in the right hand, left shoulder, and chest, denied being a drug vendor. He claimed he was in the city to buy a boat with two escort girls when they were shot.
The prosecutor argued that the defendant’s criminal record, including multiple hospital visits for puncture wounds, supported his involvement in drug trafficking.
A civil society representative criticized the lenient sentence, stating, “The violence within trafficking continues to grow, but whatever we say, a victim is a victim and we must recognize their harm.”
