AirBaltic ​Cancels Flights to and from Tel Aviv Due to Security Concerns

Previously, airBaltic announced‍ the cancellation of ⁤flights to⁤ and from Tel Aviv‍ until Sunday, August 11. However, the airline has now confirmed that flights‍ from⁣ August 12 to August 18 have also been canceled. This information was shared by airline spokesperson Zilberts.

Zilberts emphasized that⁢ airBaltic⁣ maintains close contact with both national and international authorities, ⁤actively assessing potential risks for flights to Israel. He also urged passengers to contact the airline’s ‍call center in case of flight cancellations.

The‍ cancellation comes amidst heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, leading several airlines to ⁤prioritize safety and‍ adjust their flight schedules ​accordingly. Notably, Lufthansa and its​ associated airlines have also ⁢canceled flights to the Middle ⁤East,​ including Israel, Tehran, and Beirut, until Monday, August 12.

airBaltic reported‌ a significant increase in passenger and flight numbers in 2023.⁣ The airline transported 4.536 million passengers‍ and operated 44,100 flights, representing a 35.7% and 18.3% increase year-over-year, respectively. Financial performance also saw ⁢notable ⁣growth, with a turnover of 664.289 million euros and a profit of 33.852 million euros.

The‍ Latvian state holds ​a ‍97.97% stake in ‌airBaltic, while⁣ financial investor ⁢Lars Tūsen owns 2.03%.
