Bawaslu Chairman Calls for Focused and Innovative Public Relations in Post-Election Evaluation
On August 10, 2024, the Chairman of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), Rahmat Bagja, addressed the Bawaslu News Evaluation National Coordination Meeting in Palembang, South Sumatra, following the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada). He emphasized the need for the Bawaslu Public Relations team to prioritize clear and innovative communication with the public.
Bagja highlighted the importance of transparent and accessible reporting both internally on the Bawaslu website and externally through traditional media. He encouraged the team to meticulously categorize and present information, particularly data-driven insights.
The Chairman cited the recent decision of the Constitutional Court as an example of the need for innovation in reporting. He emphasized the vulnerability of regional elections and expressed gratitude to the Public Relations team for their coverage of Bawaslu’s monitoring activities.
Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty added that the post-election evaluation would provide valuable feedback on areas for improvement within the Public Relations department.
