Wind Energy: Opportunities in Argentina
In Argentina, wind energy accounts for up to 20% of the energy supplied to the National Interconnected System. This renewable energy production is increasing, requiring skilled professionals to develop and maintain wind farms.
University Offers Specialization in Wind Energy
The National University of Comahue offers a one-and-a-half-year specialization in wind energy, starting in August. This program will equip students with the necessary knowledge to:
Develop wind farms
Work in wind farms
* Design wind energy elements
Current State of Wind Energy in Argentina
Currently, there are 57 wind farms operational in the country, with several located in Patagonia. The government has implemented a regulation requiring large companies to provide 20% of their energy from renewable sources. This has spurred interest in wind energy among large companies.
Opportunities for SMEs
While large companies are embracing wind energy, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) still have to adapt. The high investment required for wind farm development can be a barrier for them. However, there is potential for SMEs to collaborate or partner with larger companies to participate in the industry.
Future of Wind Energy
The future of wind energy lies in urban environments. Smaller turbines can be installed on buildings, generating electricity without compromising space or causing noise pollution. This presents an opportunity for professionals with expertise in architecture and urban planning.
How to Get Involved
The specialization in wind energy is open for registration until August 16th. The program offers flexible scheduling and can be completed both online and in person.
