Disappointment for Tortu and Desalu as 200m Final Qualification Eludes Them

Filippo Tortu’s 200 Meter Run ‍and 4×100 Relay Update

Despite‌ high hopes, Filippo Tortu and Fostine “Fausto” Desalu failed to⁤ qualify for the final of the 200 meters ​at the ​recent competition. In his heat, Tortu‍ finished fourth with a time of 20.54, far from his personal best (20.10) and season-best (20.14).

Despite the setback, Tortu will have a chance‍ to‌ redeem himself in the 4×100 relay. Three years ago, he was part of the Italian team that won gold in ‍Tokyo, and he’ll ⁣be hoping to reclaim that title alongside teammates Lorenzo Patta and Marcell Jacobs.‌ However, Desalu has lost his ⁣place in the relay team, having‌ been replaced by Roberto Rigali and Matteo Melluzzo. The heats‍ for the relay will take place tomorrow morning after 11:30.
