## Climbing at the 2024 Olympics: French hopes and the climbing schedule

The French climbing team has high hopes for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. With several talented athletes and strong contenders, France is poised to bring home several medals in the climbing events.
Sport climbing, one of the highlights of the second week, promises several opportunities for French success. Bassa Mawem, a strong contender in the men’s event, will compete in the speed final after edging out Ukrainian Yaroslav Tkach by just one hundredth of a second in the semifinals. His final will take place on Thursday, August 8 at 12:54 PM.
Oriane Bertone, another prominent French athlete and world vice champion, has performed well in the bouldering portion of the combined event and currently sits in second place. Zélia Avezou stands in 12th place before the upcoming difficulty event on Thursday.
In the men’s combined event, Paul Jenft has secured his place in the final after the difficulty segment.
