“The case of Moroccans in the European Communities is a positive example. They have even managed to access positions of responsibility and management of local affairs in several countries,” Ms. Johansson said during the opening of the annual conference of the European Migration Network, which is being held Thursday and Friday in the Spanish capital.
Several Moroccan executives have also distinguished themselves in several sectors of activity, the European Commissioner emphasized, highlighting the contribution of migrants to the development of Europe.
“Europe needs migration. We need the ambition, the energy, and the effort of migrants,” Johansson added, noting that migrants are an “added value for our societies and businesses that are working to strengthen their competitiveness.”
The European leader called for a “global” approach to dealing with the migration issue, noting that ”the time has come to look to the future and find solutions adapted to the current situation.”
At this annual conference, participants will focus, among other things, on the progress made in defining a long-term vision of legal immigration policies, for the benefit of both origin and host countries.
