Russian Spies Share Experiences Living Undercover in Slovenia
The recently freed Russian spies, Artyom and Anna Dultsev, recently shared their experiences living undercover in Slovenia in an interview with a Russian media outlet. Captured in December 2022, the couple lived in Slovenia under false identities with their two children.
Their aliases were Ludwig Gisch and Maria Rosa Mayer Munos. Anna ran an art gallery, while Artyom founded an IT company. Despite holding Russian nationality, the Dultsevs never spoke their native language.
During the interview, Anna recounted the moment they revealed their true identities to their children during a flight to Moscow. They told their children, “We are Russians and we are the Dultsevs.”
The Kremlin has acknowledged that the Dultsevs were “illegal” agents, meaning spies operating with false identities abroad. Anna admitted to struggling to reacquaire her native language after years living undercover. The family raised their children in Spanish and Catholicism.
The Dultsevs emphasized their dedication to their country, with Artyom stating that “family is our country,” and Anna adding that they would continue “serving Russia.”
