Al-Quds: Construction of funeral toilet and body preservation units launched

This ⁤groundbreaking project, the first of its kind in Al-Quds hospitals, was​ launched by Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif ⁤Agency, and Adnane Farhoud, general director of the hospital, in the presence of Makassed⁤ Association officials and prominent figures from Maqdissi.

The project aims to ​honor deceased⁣ individuals before their handover to their families for burial.

The two units, constructed and ⁤equipped​ at an‍ estimated cost⁢ of $180,000, include six mortuary⁤ toilet rooms⁢ adhering to Islamic Sharia law, three ⁢morgues, and a waiting room for the⁣ deceased’s relatives.

The 100 m2 facility ⁢will serve the residents ⁤of the Old City⁢ of Al-Qud and ⁤its ‌suburbs, home to a population of 80,000.

During the​ ceremony, Mr. Farhoud expressed heartfelt gratitude‌ to ‍His Majesty King ‌Mohammed VI,‌ President of the Al-Quds Committee, for his ‍generous contribution that​ benefits the‌ people of Maqdissi, who lack such‍ facilities in⁤ healthcare facilities in East Al-Quds.

Mr. Salem Cherkaoui emphasized ⁣the⁣ importance‍ of the ⁢project, highlighting⁢ its alignment with the Agency’s ongoing efforts, under the High ​Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, ‍to support the⁣ Holy City and its inhabitants through impactful social projects.

Mr.​ Cherkaoui, accompanied by the hospital CEO and his team, also toured other projects implemented by the‍ Agency within the building over the past decade, including the emergency​ services, dental clinics, and ⁢the “Ibn⁤ Sina” ​neurosurgery center.

Makassed Hospital, the largest in Al-Quds, ⁣has been ⁢providing healthcare services to⁣ the populations of⁣ the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since its⁤ establishment in 1966.‌ It is also a university hospital that has trained numerous⁢ healthcare professionals in Palestine.
