## Policy Discussion Held to Develop the Tea Industry in Boseong, Korea
A policy discussion forum to foster the development of the tea industry was held in Boseong, the heart of green tea production in Korea. Hosted by Boseong County in collaboration with Moon Geum-ju, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, and the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, the event drew approximately 90 attendees, including local officials, tea industry experts, and stakeholders.
The discussion centered around the need to protect youth health and promote sustainable development of the tea industry through initiatives such as tea culture education and the inclusion of organic green tea in school meals.
Proposed solutions included: revising the Tea Industry Act, establishing legislation to support tea industry development, implementing tea culture education programs for young people, and clearly dividing responsibilities between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in promoting tea-related policies.
Moon Geum-ju emphasized the growing popularity of tea, driven by the “healthy pleasure” trend, and expressed hope that the revised Tea Industry Act would encourage young people to embrace tea culture and prioritize their health.
Boseong County Governor Kim Cheol-woo echoed the commitment to supporting the tea industry, emphasizing the importance of preserving tradition and fostering future growth.
