ClaudiaMetrics: Mexicans Support Changing the Constitution with Morena, PVEM, and PT in Power
New measurements from the ClaudiaMetrics survey reveal widespread support among Mexicans for the parties Morena, PVEM, and PT to have enough deputies in the Chamber of Deputies to modify the Constitution.
Majority Support for Constitutional Change
- 59.2% of Mexicans believe the aforementioned parties should have enough deputies to make constitutional changes.
- 31.5% disagree, while 9.3% are unsure.
Opposition Impact on Governance
- 49.7% believe President Claudia Sheinbaum will take the opposition’s opinion into account if the parties gain control of the Chamber of Deputies.
- 38.5% disagree, while 11.8% are unsure.
Positive Impact of Control
- 53.2% believe having the majority in the Chamber of Deputies would be “something good for the country.”
- 32.4% believe it would be ”something bad for the country,” while 9.1% believe there would be no consequences, and 5.3% are unsure.
Methodology:
The survey was conducted on August 9, 2024, using a robot-assisted telephone survey method. The sample included 400 adults residing in Mexico, with adjustments made for gender, age, and residence status to ensure representativeness. The margin of error is +/-4.90% with a 95% confidence level.
