BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the interim government to swiftly prepare polling areas in preparation for upcoming elections. He emphasized the importance of holding elections to overcome challenges and establish a truly free Bangladesh.
The statement came during a visit to the grave of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia‘s son, Arafat Rahman Koko, on the occasion of his 55th birthday.
Alamgir acknowledged the significant contributions of students to the ongoing movement and praised their leadership role. He also recognized the sacrifices made by political parties and activists over the past 15 years.
He expressed concern over the alleged torture and killing of Koko, leading to his forced exile. Despite Koko’s non-political background, Alamgir highlighted his remarkable achievements in cricket.
The Secretary General concluded his remarks with a tribute to the martyrs of Bangladesh’s liberation, victory, and second independence movements.
