Spanish Gambling Regulation Update: Luckia Signs Sponsorship Deal with LaLiga
August 12, 2024
Bookmaker Luckia has signed a sponsorship deal with LaLiga in Spain and Mexico for the next three seasons. This agreement comes following the Supreme Court‘s annulment of several regulations implemented by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to limit the appearance of betting brands in the media.
The ruling struck down restrictions on the use of celebrities in betting advertisements, advertising on video platforms and social networks, and acquiring new clients. These measures were part of the government’s attempt to curb the influence of gambling advertising on young audiences.
The Spanish Digital Gaming Association, led by lawyer José María Macías Castaño, successfully appealed the regulations before the Supreme Court. The association argued that the measures violated due process and unfairly restricted free speech.
Under the new agreement, Luckia will collaborate with LaLiga on various activities to promote the league, including:
Disseminating and promoting LaLiga competitions through online and physical channels
Hosting live events with LaLiga ambassadors
* Offering personalized officer and ticketing services
The sponsorship deal emphasizes that all activities will comply with the current regulations regarding betting advertising.
