A statement ‌from the US Presidency, citing statistics from the independent organization of police chiefs of the⁢ largest US cities (MCCA), reveals that ⁢violent crimes have decreased in ⁣all categories in the first half of 2024.

According ⁣to the MCCA, homicides ‍are down ​17%‍ compared to the first‌ half of 2023, robbery‍ cases are down -6%, rapes are down ⁤-9.7%, and aggravated assaults are down -5.4%.

The‌ White House also announced that President Joe ⁢Biden’s proposed rescue plan⁢ provided $15 billion⁤ to​ cities and states to invest in public safety⁤ and violence prevention.

The statement further notes that the ‌MCCA, which also covers ‍Canada, reported slight increases in homicide ⁢and robbery crimes, and a ‌slight decrease in ⁤sexual assault and aggravated assault in that ‌country.
