(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 11 AUGUST – NATO’s special representative for the Southern Flank, Javier Colomina, has responded for the first time to the Italian government’s criticism of his appointment, announced on 23 July by the Alliance’s Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg. “I will not speak about Italian politics,” he told El Pais in his first interview since his appointment. “The truth is that this appointment was not improvised. The procedure, in which Spain, Italy and Portugal played a significant role, began before the Vilnius summit” in July 2023.
