Indian Cricketers to Participate in Duleep Trophy
The Indian cricket team’s next international series against Bangladesh is approaching, and several key players are set to participate in the upcoming Duleep Trophy. This tournament, starting from September 5th, will see the formation of four teams: India A, India B, India C, and India D.
Majority of Stars to Feature
Almost all major names in Indian cricket are expected to grace the Duleep Trophy. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are confirmed to play in different matches. Additionally, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav are among those named.
Venue Change Due to Logistics
This year’s Duleep Trophy will not follow the zonal format. Instead, the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will select the four teams. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, but the lack of an airport in the city has posed logistical challenges. To address this, the BCCI is now planning to host one round of the tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Ishan Kishan’s Potential Return
Ishan Kishan is likely to be called up for the Duleep Trophy. The selection committee has reportedly instructed him to resume red-ball cricket as a prerequisite for his potential return to the Indian team. Kishan had previously ignored BCCI warnings regarding participation in the Ranji Trophy. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are unlikely to find a place in any of the Duleep Trophy teams.
