  • The former leader will no longer be on the lists – she has been an MP for 12 years, announced Zafirov
  • The Executive Bureau will be thinking about what punishment to offer for her and her people
  • They got out of the tangled situation after legal disputes over who represents the party – the plenum delegated to the temporary chairman the right to sign for elections and lists

Kornelia Ninova will no longer be on the lists of the BSP, because she has been an MP for 12 years and according to the statute, she is not entitled to more. This was stated by the temporary chairman of the party, Atanas Zafirov, to BNT on Sunday. And he reminded that the statutory restrictions were imposed by Ninova herself. Thus, Zafirov signaled the mood of the new leadership of “Positano” to finally end its battle with the former leader.

Members of the National Council directly asked for Ninova to be excluded from the party at the meeting on Saturday. This is the second time such a request has been made to the plenum after she resigned after losing the June election. But both times the leadership parried the attempts to have a total showdown with the former leader, who did not go to Positano 20 this Saturday. This time, however, the plenum tasked the Executive Bureau to discuss what party punishment should be imposed on Ninova and her people.

An explicit decision was taken, in the form of a declaration, by which the National Council condemned the open sabotage and non-implementation of its decisions by members of the national leadership, and instructed the Executive Bureau to consider the possibility of imposing party influence measures under the statute. And at the next meeting of the National Council to report these measures in the mandatory presence of the people, explained Zafirov. The punishments provided for in the statute are 5 – reprimand, reprimand, distinction, temporary withdrawal of rights to occupy party positions and exclusion. I have no information about Mrs. Ninova not remaining in the party. With some of its actions, it goes against the decisions of the collective bodies and creates grounds for different interpretations, as well as

some of these actions take the form of open sabotage against the party,

especially in a situation of an election campaign and the need for full consolidation and broadcasting of one-way signals not only to BSP members, but also to the whole societysaid Zafirov. He gave as an example the statements of Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev before the plenary, who claimed that there was no quorum with 99 present.

The Executive Bureau will look specifically at each case and all the actions of Ninova and her people in the last month and propose what measures should be taken according to the statute. But the decision will be up to the National Council, because the collective spirit is returning to the party, the interim chairman also said.

Ninova responded with an ironic comment on Facebook. My day started with the news that the BSP National Council will expel me from the party. And it ends with the news that the National Council criticizes me for sabotage. Guys, what didn’t reach you – butt or quorum to make at least one decision like the people. So I remain a little clan, a clan – not a clan. You really want it, but it doesn’t hold you back. What to do:

apparently I raised you with rabbit hearts in male bodies,

she wrote of her successors who were her deputies.

And Ivan Chenchev, who is close to her, explained the statute to prove that he has the right to be a deputy. The new management is clearly interpreting the statute selectively. Ninova is a member of the 41st National Assembly, i.e. since 2009. 7 years have passed since her election as the chairman in 2016. Therefore, according to the statute, she is currently entitled to another 5 years as a representative of the people. Any other interpretations are unconstitutional and subject to appeal, he wrote on Facebook.

But that it is possible to go all the way towards Ninova next time, Zafirov signaled again on Sunday with the words “the most normal thing is to have some measure of impact, as such actions create turmoil”.

At the same time, on Saturday, the National Council decided to restore the membership of all those expelled and punished by the BSP, who did not switch to other parties. And for the first time in nearly 3 years, Kiril Dobrev came to the plenum, who was twice expelled from the leadership, but reinstated by the court.

The BSP will appear in the early elections in a coalition format. The leadership of the Socialists approved the great left unification, the start of which was given to Buzludzha. And the temporary co-president explained that the name of the future coalition is important and that is why there is no hurry with it. At the moment, the program is also being developed, which will step on many of the previous theses of the left.

And in order to get out of the tangled situation along with legal disputes over who represents the party and who can sign, the National Council voted a decision delegating these rights for the elections and lists to Zafirov. According to documents, Ninova is still the leader, as Krum Donchev, who is close to her, is appealing the decision of the Sofia City Court to have her deleted.

At the meeting, it became clear that the last two tranches of the BSP’s state subsidy have been suspended, and the party’s liabilities are around 3 million – from unpaid insurance, to the National Revenue Agency and liabilities to suppliers due to the already suspended Red TV. And because of the legal disputes about who represents the party, Zafirov cannot submit documents for the next tranches of the subsidy.
