Kolkata: Senior BJP leader and advocate Kaustav Bagchi on Monday filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. This petition will be heard on Tuesday. The petition demands installation of CCTV cameras in all medical colleges, hospitals and rest rooms and strict action against the accused. Along with this, two more PILs have also been filed in the Calcutta High Court. All the petitions have the same argument that the case should be investigated by an independent agency instead of the SIT of Kolkata Police. A division bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya has accepted all the PILs and the case will be heard on Tuesday. The PIL was filed when Mamata Banerjee met the family of the deceased trainee doctor and said that if the police does not solve the case by Sunday, the case will be handed over to the CBI.
