48 seconds – that’s how long it took 24-year-old Nacho Panteleev to start with his sports Mercedes from Lyaskovets and, like a Formula 1 pilot, to catch up and overtake Ferrari Spasov’s Golf on the main road Sofia – Varna near the village of Sheremetya.

The administrative hearing is scheduled for September 27. The most likely development is a case under the summary procedure. This means it could all be over in one sitting, and Nacho could get off with a lighter sentence.
According to the indictment, he will be responsible for causing death due to negligence in a traffic accident, but with the qualification “particularly serious case”. They threaten him with 5 to 15 years in prison, explained Lovech district prosecutor Valentin Valkov, who led the investigation.
“There is a high public danger of the perpetrator and the act. From the collected evidence, it is clear that within 5 months, Panteleev committed 60 striking violations of the Road Traffic Act. In all these cases, he was traveling at over 100 kilometers per hour, including 248 km/h and 268 km/h when leaving and entering a built-up area.

Nacho got a license a little more than a year before the fatal accident with Ferrari Spasov. There are reports that the heir to the Manjite clan has previously driven undisturbed. Officially, there are two acts and 10 electronic receipts, some of which were paid, it became clear already in the investigation.
“We will dispute the legal qualification of “particularly serious case”. There is no such evidence. It is a tragic accident, but it is a typical traffic accident. Other similar cases are not qualified as a particularly severe case. Here, a particularly serious case is determined based on past, alleged violations and based on speed. A violation is not established with a photo from an API camera, that a certain car has passed and it is not known who was driving it. It is established with slips and deeds,” Panteleev’s lawyer Ventsislav Foti told “24 Chasa”.
The contestation of the legal qualification did not exclude the possibility of the case going through an abbreviated procedure. It was up to Nacho, who was still undecided.
“Regarding the auto technical expertise, I think they tried a lot, but there are things that cannot be established 100% – for example, they say the speed is about 164.7 km/h. The main reason is that he did not exercise constant control over the car and allowed it to enter an adjacent lane, to which the speed also contributed,” said Foti. He is for the client

Based on court practice, lawyers predict 4-5 years in prison with the 1/3 reduction provided for in a summary trial. At the moment, Nacho Panteleev has his license revoked, and the Mercedes with which he caused the accident is a total loss. It is owned by a Plovdiv company and it is not clear how it was granted to him, since Nacho does not have a single day of work experience.

“At least we are not notified of the result. They are obliged to notify Nacho in case they initiate revision proceedings or if they find any violations. If a file is accidentally closed due to missing data, they will not notify us. Nothing along these lines has been established,” said lawyer Foti.
The family is still looking for a buyer for the luxury house that the Panteleevs live in. Months ago it was announced for 360,000 euros.
