Santiago de Cali, August 11, 2024

The Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali, through the District Social Welfare Secretariat, announces the results of the elections to choose the representatives of the Concertation Committee of the CaliDiversidad Public Policy.

Thus, the provisions of the Agreement 0461 of 2019 and Decree No. 4112.010.20.1910 of November 4, 2020, which regulates this committee with representatives of individuals with diverse sexual orientations, identities, and gender expressions in the capital of Valle del Cauca, are fulfilled.

The Concertation Committee is a space for dialogue and intercommunication between the District Administration and the LGBTIQ+ population sectors, for monitoring and following the CaliDiversidad Public Policy.

“The LGBTIQ+ population of Santiago de Cali has chosen its spokespeople for the Concertation Committee of the CaliDiversidad Public Policy, which will be in effect for the next two years. Our commitment is to work collaboratively with the 11 agencies to build an action plan that allows us to reach all the districts and communes of the city, seeking guarantees of rights for this population group,” expressed Luis Felipe Rodríguez Rojas, coordinator of CaliDiversidad.

For his part, Sebastián Bedoya, one of the voters from the LGBTIQ+ community, stated: “It is important to highlight that this is the first time we have the opportunity to choose the people who will represent us on the committee; they will have the chance to demonstrate their talents and it is a huge responsibility to enforce that claim for rights.”

For the District Administration, led by Mayor Alejandro Eder, strengthening participatory spaces like the Concertation Committee is fundamental in advancing towards a more equitable, just, and inclusive Cali. These efforts not only guarantee that all voices are heard and represented but also contribute to building a more respectful and resilient society.
