Golden boy Carlos Nassar has returned home.

Carlos Nassar became the Olympic champion in the category up to 89 kg at the weightlifting tournament in Paris.

In his second attempt, Carlos nailed 224 kilograms, with which he improved his own world record and sent it into history and that of the match, collecting 404 kg.

The weightlifter was greeted at the airport with shouts of “Bulgarians, heroes” by hundreds of fans.

“Thank you to everyone. The welcome is a dream. Knowing that a whole nation is behind me, I have no right to give up. I sleep like a baby after an Olympic title. Before the competition, however, it is quite difficult. It cost me a lot of energy, effort, lack of social life, blood, sweat… The important thing is that the goal has been achieved. I feel like a hero, like a proud Bulgarian. My heart is full, too. I’m in my childhood dream,” shared the excited Olympic champion.

“When I step on the podium, I forget about the audience and everything, a great euphoria remains in me, I don’t even remember what I’m doing. I really have no memories, huge adrenaline. It wasn’t quite easy, I had a lot of obstacles before the lift.

We’ll keep the limit a secret for now, but overall it’s pretty far. It’s great for me to motivate kids and adults too,” added the 20-year-old Nassar.

He now has a rest ahead of him, and then preparation for the World Cup at the end of the year.
