My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) held a single line march with 10-point calls, demands and cautionary pledges in support of the post-coup interim government.
On Monday (August 12), the party started the march from the party office in Vijaynagar of the capital. The march ended at Vijayanagar, Kakrail, Naya Paltan, Fakirapool intersections of the capital and came again in front of the central office.
Before this, the party held a short rally. Joint convener of the party Major (Retd.) Dr. AB Party Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju addressed the rally held under the chairmanship of Abdul Wahab Minar.
AB Party Joint Convener Advocate Tajul Islam, BM Nazmul Haque, Joint Member Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, Barrister Zobair Ahmed Bhuiya, Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, Central Leader Lt. Col. (Retd.) Didarul Alam Mazumder, Lt. Col. (Retd.) Central leaders including Helal Uddin, Publicity Secretary Anwar Sadat Tutul, Senior Assistant Member Secretary ABM Khalid Hasan and Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Altaf Hossain.
Major Miner said, people have high expectations from the post-coup government. So this government should give priority to the people’s demands. The main desire of this revolution, which was achieved in exchange of the blood of the students, was to create an anti-discrimination Bangladesh. There is no room for compromise to resolve the disparity.
Mojibur Rahman Manju, highlighting the 10-point demand on behalf of the AB party, said that the interim government is facing a big challenge. The government which has been formed on the blood of students must fulfill the expectations of the nation. Under no circumstances will the aspirations of the people be allowed to fail. A revolutionary government has no chance of failure.
10 point demand or call:
1) The great challenge of nation building is now on the shoulders of students; Must succeed in this challenge. Let us work together with a commitment to patience, tolerance, sacrifice, democratic values and protection of human rights.
2) The victory of the infinite self-sacrifice and blood donation of the students; It must be held. If not, the martyrs will not forgive us. For failure in the near future our consequences may be similar to Awami League!
3) Stop the disinformation being spread by some Indian media and political parties about the situation in Bangladesh. False propaganda and communal incitement to undermine the student uprising is not a sign of friendship.
4) We are all Bangladeshi-Bengalis of all religions including Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians. No one is majority or minority. There is no scope for discrimination or individualized division. We all have to protect the bonds of communal harmony even with our lives.
5) Sheikh Hasina and her henchmen must start a fair trial immediately for the genocide, destruction and brutality that Sheikh Hasina and her associates have committed while maintaining the mattress of illegal power. The state should take responsibility for compensation of every affected person and family.
6) Sheikh Hasina and her aggressive murderous henchmen are entirely responsible for the damage done in the immediate response to the popular uprising. However, any retaliatory acts after the formation of the interim government are the responsibility of the current government and all the agitating parties. Immediate concerted action of the government and students should ensure all-round public safety.
7) The principle of removal or disciplinary action against any person in office shall be the crime committed by him and unfair, unjust role. On the other hand any new appointment or appointment should be based on merit, efficiency, integrity, deprivation and neglect by the previous illegitimate government and his contribution and role in the past democratic struggle.
8) Multidimensional challenges before the interim government. A commitment to reform the fragile and broken state system and hold fair, acceptable and participatory elections as soon as possible. Prolonging the tenure of the interim government without justifiable reasons risks losing popularity and acceptance. I hope everyone will be aware of that.
9) A call to all domestic and international parties and development partners engaged in the protection of democracy and human rights – cooperate fully to make the popular uprising of Bangladesh a success.
10) Bringing down the price of goods to a bearable level, keeping factories and factories functioning at all levels, speeding up business and trade, and bringing new reforms and enthusiasm back to the country’s economy should be strengthened.
